Our Shepherd - Retired Kahu Charles Milika'a Yabui
Kahu Charles Milika'a Yabui has been the Shepherd and Kahu Kihapai (Senior Pastor) of Ka Hale Hoano O Ke Akua Church since 1978. He has since retired as of July 2016. So much to be thankful for as a humble and fearing servant of God.
Humble Upbringing He is the son of Grace Malaikapu and Charles Yabui. He was born in 1933 in a humble home located in Ka'amola, Moloka'i. He was raised on Moloka'i by his motherʻs sister - Aunt Rachel Lahela Papalimu Puailihau and her husband Daniel Kaʻailau Puailihau. He later moved to Maui with his parents and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1950. He was a member of the Air National Guard and attended notable events like the Inauguration of Presidents Johnson and Nixon. He was also a member of King Kalakaua's Royal Guard.
Called to Serve Kahu Yabui was ordained as a Hope Kahu in 1970 at Ka Hale La'a O Ierusalema Hou Church in Kalama'ula, Moloka'i. His spiritual mentoring was provided by Kahu Farley, Kahu Ayau and Kahu Gilbert Ahlo. In 1978, he was ordained Kahu Kihapai of Ka Hale Hoano O Ke Akua Church. He has also served as Ka Hale Hoano O Ke Akua Church's Board President since its incorporation.
His Support Kahu Yabui and his late wife Virginia (Farley) have six children, eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. He currently resides in Pacific Palisades on O'ahu.
Vision Statement
Ka Hale Hoano O Ke Akua Church shares a long term vision for the future for its ordained ministers, membership and all Churches statewide under the denomination of Ho'omana Ke ali'i o na Ali'i a me ka Haku o na Haku, which was founded by Kahu, Edward Ayau in 1948. Ka Hale Hoano O Ke Akua Church was dedicated on April 11, 1954 in service to our Jehovah God and his son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ka Hale O Ke Akua Church seeks to be a community of committed believers led by the Spirit, informed by the Word, shaped by prayer and called to be faithful in Dedicating our lives to our Christian faith and our love for God, Jesus Christ and one another. Courageously sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through preaching, teaching, worship and evangelism, actively building up the Body of Christ, the church through stewardship, nurture, fellowship, and mutual encouragement, willingly witnessing to the love of God through outreach, mission, care and reconciliation. Proudly perpetuating the Hawaiian language and culture in worship, individual actions, programs, and publications.
